The DISCOs, AEDC (Abuja Electricity Distribution Company) in particular does not like use of prepaid meters. In my area we had a world bank financed meters that were installed on the poles where bypassing is impossible, but they argue that it does not move fast enough, hence they sabotaged it. They do not have meters to offer customers so that they can continue giving estimated bills
Ikeja Electric in Lagos is trying in issuance of prepaid meters via third party firms. However the process is slow and they hardly respond to emails or phone calls.
