LEVERAGING ELECTRICITY ACT TO DEEPEN POWER SECTOR REFORM IN NIGERIA
The Implementation of the Electricity Act 2023 will revolutionalize the Nigerian Power Sector.
1. The Act requires the Ministry of Power to write the National Integrated Electricity & Strategic Implementation Plan.
2. TCN to be unbundled into TSP and ISO.
3. States which have established their electricity market to regulate, generate, transmit, and distribute electricity within their domains.
4. Shareholding Structure of the Utilities has to be finalized.
5. Integrated Resource Planning will be necessary.
6. Investments in metering and network infrastructure (gas, electricity, etc) will be key.
7. Collaboration of stakeholders is a must.
